Welcome to the newly established website of The Greek Orthodox community of St Barnabas, comprising of the Cathedral of the Dormition of the Mother of God (St Mary’s) and the Church of St Barnabas in Wood Green. Our community belongs to the Archdiocese of Thyateira and Great Britain, an Eparchy of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople. We have been connecting people to the Orthodox Church’s rich liturgical and spiritual life since 1970.

Under the spiritual guidance and blessings of His Eminence Archbishop Nikitas of Thyateira and Great Britain and the leadership of His Grace Bishop Iakovos of Claudiopolis, our community aims to continue growing, with further liturgical, catechetical and social initiatives, reaching out to the wider community of North London, bearing witness to Christ and His Church.

Σε μια εποχή διαρκών προκλήσεων και συνεχών αναταράξεων ο επίκαιρος λόγος της Εκκλησίας παραμένει το ουσιαστικό και μοναδικό στήριγμα της υπαρξιακής μας αγωνίας. Στα πλαίσια αυτά της ποιμαντικής μας μέριμνας οι συνεργάτες μου και εγώ σκεφτήκαμε την δημιουργία μίας ιστοσελίδας ως άμεσου και ευκολότερου τρόπου επικοινωνίας.

Εύχομαι αυτή η προσπάθειά μας να αποβεί όχι μόνο ευκαιρία μεταδόσεως του ευαγγελικού λόγου αλλά και βιώματος της σώζουσας Αλήθειας Του Κυρίου και της πλούσιας Ορθοδόξου παραδόσεως στο πλαίσιο της πολυπολιτισμικής κοινωνίας του Βορείου Λονδίνου της τοπικής μας Εκκλησίας.

In an epoch characterised by constant challenges and upheavals, the Church remains the unique and  essential support in our existential struggle. Within this context of our Pastoral ministry, my fellow clergy and I thought of re-creating a new website as a direct and easier way of communicating with you.

We pray that our endeavour will grant us all not only the opportunity to share the Gospel but also the living witness of our Lord’s saving truth and the rich Tradition of the Orthodox Church within our parish’s context of the multicultural society of North London.
